Generational change in technology takes a much shorter time than the generational change in humans. One example of this fact may get reflected in Samsung’s decision to stop using Android on its smart devices.
Google is working on Fuchsia
For the last few years, Google’s research laboratories have been working on a completely new operating system. This new operating system has been named Fuchsia. It will be an amalgamation of Android and Chrome operating systems. Fuchsia is being designed in such a way that it will be able to run on a wide range of internet-based equipments like smartphones, tablets, computers, IOT as well as various body wearables like fitness bands.
Samsung’s involvement in Fuchsia— A sign of things to come?
Samsung has been actively involved in the development of Fuchsia. The South Korean giant committed new code related to F2FS (Flash-Friendly File System) into the operating system. F2PS is a system that Samsung has specially built in order to manage files on a storage device. After launching F2PS, Samsung’s EXT4 (pre-existing file management system) quickly went into oblivion. Moreover, Samsung has been listed as an official co-author of Fuchsia OS along with Google.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s active involvement in the development of Fuchsia has given rise to all sorts of speculations about the company’s future strategies. If we go by rumours going around the tech-world, Samsung is all set to replace Android with Fuchsia. However, the official announcement about the same has not been made yet. It is still not clear whether Fuchsia will have only one user interface related to Google or another section dedicated to Samsung as well.
Samsung: Hello Fuchsia! ????
(Don't be too excited. It will take a few years for Samsung to adopt it.) https://t.co/LLwFqqS0Bu

Samsung will get a massive boost and competitive edge
Samsung’s involvement in the project is expected to provide it with a massive competitive edge in the market. If Samsung becomes the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), then others will be forced to follow the suit, which will result in the extinction of Android.
Android is the most popular OS
The current smartphone market is hugely tilted towards Android. According to a Statista report, by July 2021, more than 73 percent of mobile users are using the Android operating system. Second place is held by Apple, which contributes its operating system to nearly 26 percent of smartphones sold all around the world.
Android’s massive popularity owes to its user-friendly and easy-to-use operating system. However, disadvantages like patchy updates, ad-friendly applications, and compulsory applications by manufacturers, makes Android highly unlikeable.
Android was a great service to humanity as it made it possible for every section of society to access information with a click. Hopefully, a better and more inclusive OS is in the offing.
